Movie Trailers
Here is a selection of movie trailers of some of the best movies I’ve seen recently.
Thor
Thor is probably the best blockbuster of its type since Lord of The Rings. Kenneth Branagh has done a great job directing this film.
Thor is a combination of Norse mythology and Marvel creations. In the film, Thor is cast out of Asgard for being arrogant and is sent to earth to live with humans.
Naturally, there is a love story sub-plot when Thor falls in love with a scientist called Jane Foster. As with all epic, fantasy films, there is the battle of dark forces which need to be overcome.
All in all, a very entertaining and thrilling movie to watch.
The Road
The Road is a very gripping movie that follows a father and son in their quest to leave the cold ravaged wastelands of a post-apocalypse to the warmer climate down south.
It’s a very tense movie and probably and definitely not one to see if you want to feel uplifted.
True Grit
This is a remake of the classic Western made in 1964. The original version of True Grit starred John Wayne and the modern version is directed by the Coen Brothers and is very different to the original. This version is a lot more brutal and the violence a lot more realistic compared to the 1964 version.
The Tourist
The story involves an American tourist travelling through Europe to mend a broken heart when a woman called Elise sits next to him on a train and a whole series of event unfold.
127 Hours
127 Hours is a Danny Boyle (“Slum Dog Millionaire” fame) film and based on a true story of a mountain climber who gets his arm trapped under a boulder in the wilds of Utah and the harrowing decision he needs to make in order to survive.
I remember the actual incident when it was on the news and while the movie adds a few elements that are made up to provide a good storyline, the film is really very gripping and quite tense. One of my favorite movies for 2010.
